Blackline 200 - out of the box?

What else will I need to buy to get the Blackline 200 working well (on gas) out of the box?

So far I’ve got a shopping list of:
-16a plug (I don’t have 32a plug in workshop)
- decent Binzel torch
- regulator and (I assume) hose

Anything else I need to factor into my man maths before deciding between Blacklime and R-Tech?

First foray into MIG - always just stuck with MMA.

The only thing I bought was a regulator for mine. The supplied torch is fine, and a hobbyweld gas cylinder.

Add a can of tip dip, spare consumables and MIG pliers

Mig wire to suit your needs and tip in the torch. Be sure to get correct size drum for your machine…5 or15kg

A mask, gloves etc

I wouldn’t be quick to buy a new torch, in my opinion more than adequate to start with.

Regulator and hose needed.

I'd upgrade to a 20ltr gas bottle if you can afford it, makes more sense cost wise on the refills...you'll burn through a 10 ltr bottle...pun intended....

If you are new into mig add a pile of scrap/offcuts to play with to your list.

Next question, what regulator and hose do I need please? Local gas place is motor factors so pretty sure they just do bottles (SGS agents).

Tried using mine on fluxcore and it was ****. Although maybe Lidl's fluxcore isn't the highest quality?
Just use it on normal wire with hobbyweld gas now and its fine.

Did you switch the polarity when using flux core? This can be overlooked

Yep I did.

First problem!

I bought a 3/8BSP hose, but the Blackline has a threaded, barbed fitting on the back. Way smaller than 3/8. Can I get an adapter to connect to 3/8 or do I just push the hose onto the barbed fitting? Does it need a jubilee clip - assume not as little gas pressure this side of the regulator.

Which take me to next question… with regulator valve closed, when I open the cylinder valve I get gas flowing through the hose. Is that right? I know good practice is to turn off at the bottle but logic would suggest “closed” on regulator is actually closed?

Yes, looks to be M12x1mm (??) thread and not 3/8. Reluctant to chop the nicely fitted 3/8 fitting off the end of my new hose

Just cut the BSP fitting off and w’re in business. Guessing at settings but ran a couple of beads and all seems to work.
