The pea shooter is the tube & nozzle, not a tube fitted with a smaller nozzle.

I too do grit blasting on a regular basis and I notice no difference when the hose wears.

The 3/4 inch hose isn't too large, I would agree a 2 inch hose would be.

look at my link 3 to 4 times the diameter of the blast jet that equates to 12mm max hose on a 3mm jet .on a pittling 14cfm outfit it probably wouldnt be noticeable but it certainly is on anything larger than 90cfm

What is the maximum size grit. (In mm) that can be usefully used in a small pot blaster, is it basically limited by nozzle size? Or does when it gets over a certain size become too heavy and not accelerate fast enough to be usefull?

Last question the valve on the link between air inlet and top of tank, should this be wide open or just enough to keep the pressure balanced?

Got myself a set of ceramic nozzles so will be testing lasted, although initial tests with male air line connector seem promising.

Also most blast pots I see have an pressure/air/water seperator on them. I have one on the wall just before the hose connection, would it be worth getting another for the blaster? Just to try to get any more condensate out Especially if I am going to be using airlines over about 5m?

Thanks for the help guys, I am really enjoy this project as wanted one for ages, next on the agenda is a big compressor or possibly hire a tow one and get all the major stuff done at once.

It's limited by nozzle size.

If you mean the valve on the top of the pot from the supply keep that fully open.

Also keep the valve between the top and the mixer at the bottom fully open, adjust the valve in the bottom of the pot so the grit stream is just visible.

Adjust the pressure to about 90psi at the pot, trial & error works fine.

Fit an extra separator if you need one, if you're not getting blobs of moisture splashing on the workpiece you'll be OK. The longer the air hose the more moisture will condense in it so you're not as likely to need an extra filter.

Do keep the filter drained, it can fill up quite quickly, especially on warm humid days.

get a water seperator fitted on the pot its self even if u have one further back down the line .make sure it has half inch ports though so not to restrict the flow of air .
