I've done quite a bit of blasting on stuff, I've got plenty of air, a professional pot and it's still a real ball ache most of the time, I certainly wouldn't dream of doing a full shell.
Having said that, it's very handy to have & I'd be lost without it, but I now do light de-rusting, just edges of panels mainly where the rust is worst and I'll chemical strip the paint off first, so I can lightly blast the panel if it's in good shape.
The most important thing to own, other than PPE is a 3mm SIEVE, sift everything you put in the pot or it will drive you nuts, with blockages.
I blast outside on a nice dry day, build a box 8'x4' with an open front, put on a large tarpaulin sheet, so you can recycle as much media as you can.
