^yeah if its dead quiet where you live the alerts would be handy , mine would be going off all day as we have passing cars /walkers etc, just not convinced it would help me

although next have some camera on the door and i always feel shifty going past it lol , so the deterrent factor might well be worth it

Indeed I may get a Mr Burns style "release the hounds" button if they do wifi versions now

We have two WiFi networks. Could we link one set to one and the other set to the other and still view them easily? Presumably if you can use them while away from home that should be possible?

You can definitely view them easily using 4g etc anywhere in the world. Mine are just as fast viewed that way.

Re using 2x WiFi networks I would say that yes this should be possible as you can use several synk hubs on the one app. I'll have my second synk hub this week so can test as I also have 2x WiFi hubs in my house.

To be honest the synk hubs have a very impressive range. I haven't found the limit yet and one of my cameras is about 80 feet from the hub. But for best signal strength for spread I am going to set up 2x synk hubs.

I guess I only want them so I can go out with a big baseball bat (I dont need the hat) and the dog though... I'm not lookomg for a fight but more to scare them off... we live in a rural spot... saw a light flashing around the hedges the other night. I went out, with a big torch and a hockey stick which happened to be nearby... I made a lot of noise and presence known on purpose... next morning my neighbour reported his telehandler stolen. Cameras like these could be handy as so easy to setup around the place and tell me if someone had actually got in the yard.

I use a gun torch for that 800m beam….logic being that gun lamps often have guns behind them. For tractors quads etc I think trackers are possibly the way forward.
For bigger distances these seem to be a better option, but they really need to be powered. There are 4 g options without mains power with their own memory card, but once you have them recording 24/7 the batteries cant cope.

Our last Shepherd was chief alarm system, so was her predescessor. The current one, though he looks the part, is not very vocal at all, on the other hand “Clyde runs from sheep” our reject sheep dog has bat ears and lets you know when a mouse farts at 900 yards!

I've had the cameras and doorbell for a few years, well worth it.

I used one to watch a plumbing repair I had to do while I turned the water back on to see if it leaked when working on my own

One thing I will say is do not bother trying to use local storage pen drive until your trial fully runs out. I had cancelled the free trial and figured out how to get the USB to work. (Quite tedious really)

I just got it starting to work on the pen drive then the free trial pulled itself back in and changed the settings! So I'll just let the free trial run out in 28 days and start USB local storage setup over again.

No, I've got six connected, not sure what the limit is tho....

Had to look it up and in theory the sync module can support up to 10 cams.
But I would think they you would need pretty good connectivity and bandwidth.

Looking forward to reading your experiences and tinkering as I'm sure I'm missing a load of tricks even tho I've had them for 2 years.
The indoor PTZs are fun for spying on pets when you're away. Or desperate knowing you are too far away to get back in time to save the sofa!

This spotlight is battery powered. 4X D cells. It does plug into one of the Cameras. And is controllable from the app including turning on and off manually or PIR function.

As I mentioned before night vision in these cameras is not great so where lighting conditions permit I prefer to keep night vision off.

That is really quite amazing I am surprised by it. Very easy to fit just plug into the camera and it adds it automatically. 3 screws and clip it into the bracket.

Not sure what battery life will be like. From reviews seems OK. Takes standard D cells. I'll likely find high quality high capacity rechargeable batteries for it when these run out.

This allows me to see the back of my house clearly lit up on camera from anywhere in world which is pretty cool.

I will have the standard mains powered sensor light for regular use no point in using these batteries for that. I want this light for the ability simply to light up back on demand and see clearly before turning off again.
