Since they added PTFE into the flux to get the H4R rating (what was it about heating PTFE, toxic fumes etc) they don't run as good.Bohler AWS 6013 and AWS 7018, best value for money quality rods you can buy, they run very easily without fuss and don't cost the earth.
The fox EV50s are awesome and run maybe a little smoother than the AWS but they cost more money and I am tight
At the opposite end, ESAB 7018's we've always struggled with on a few different welders. They don't light up or run as easily, in spite of still being a "quality" rod. That's the OK 48.00 IIRC.
The OK 55.00 is better.
I've left them behind now, always looking to cut corners ESAB unfortunately. Its not the firm it used to be, thats what happens when an investment company gets hold of something.
