I’ve been tempted on those too. Couldn’t you delve into your router collection and make a sleeve for a plunge base? Perhaps the travel would be too short.

A few years ago I came close to getting one but then an old 3ph Union pillar drill fell into my hands.
The Bosch does seem to be a reasonable option at its price and I've seen some good reviews of it, especially for woodworking;

If you get one and the lines are really faint and all blurry check there is not a small protective film covering over it before complaining about it

I have one, from Axminster. They are OK. The rods are a little short though for morticing door locks. By the time you poke them through the base enough to enable the self-centring, the point of a standard hex drive flat bit is below the base surface. The rods are fixed at 90 degrees to the base. Other versions allow you to set the rods at an angle.
I would love to find one of these that fits a cordless drill or alternatively a cordless drill with a standard 43mm collar to fit this device.
UKJ and others do one with an integral 10mm chuck so it can be driven by anything.

I've got the Lidl copy and I think it's good for what it is. Could be better - motor is lacking a bit in torque at lower speeds when trying to drill thicker metal stock but for the price the features you get with the great clamping/easy speed adjustment/depth stop/easy adjustment head etc make it well worth the money. I like it better than the equivalent belt driven chinese models, although doubtless they are better at lower speeds. If you have the cash to splash no doubt this Bosch is better still than the Lidl one.

I like the look of the one by Japanese company Star-M, a bit cheaper than Famag but can't see them for sale in UK at the moment, I have quite a few star-m tools and they are always good quality.

Hmmm indeed. I still haven’t got round to ordering the Bosch one as the mitre saw broke. Two speed as well, not like the previous Aldi offering...

Looks like they've addressed the main shortcomings of the previous Parkside model I have - the twin gearbox combined with the motor speed control should give a bit more torque for the bigger drill bits, the depth stop is now digital and the chuck is now keyless.
