I'll post some more pics showing how I do it when I'm back...
As for pallets, ok if you get them for free, break them up and cut into sizable pieces, but how long do they last as thy're small pieces of softwood?
My press makes 4 logs (size of housebricks) at a time with a 2 tonne bottle jack which means they're very densely pressed as well as being pretty dry - therefore shorter drying time.
As for 'gloop' ratio..... I rip chunks of newspaper (FREE from my canteen at work) and soak in a dustbin for a few days, then in a second 'big tub' soak sawdust/chippings (FREE from a local moulding company.... Also, Oak chippings are the best as they're larger/harder pieces) for a day. Then add the soaked newspaper in with the chippings and use a Screwfix plaster mixer thing in a drill which pulps the soaked paper and blends in..... Finally I also add is crushed smokeless coal as this increases the burn time.....
The ratio I use... after a lot of youtube'ing.....
40% paper pulp
40% sawdust/chippings
20% smokeless coal broken down into dust/small chunks
I use 6kg smokeless coal at a time which works at £2.05 per mix making around 35 blocks at a cost of 6 PENCE per brick
Hope that helps??
