yours like mine is a Ingersoll rand T30, did you get a gasket kit for it if you did would like to know where from.What size motor did you use. I will let you all guess the age on mine see if you come close. The air filter is just mad though

Handy to know the exact make, cheers eil. They were chucking it out in work and it had a 3hp, 3ph motor so changed it for same size single phase. When it kicks in it starts slowly though.
I bought gasket material from chronos and cut it to shape. The air filter from halfords That "vee" between the cylinders just looked a bit empty

Apologies Jaeger for hijacking your post, I will post pics on the T30 thread I started when I get time to do more on it, mine had the same 3hp but cuts off at 125psi. designed in 1929 and still virtually the same to this day or so I'm told, how bout that then.

Tell me though these look like substantially larger capacity that the AC25 and you're running 3 hp? I've struggled to find a 3kw (at reasonable cost) for the AC25, would a 3hp be ok with a smaller flyer on the motor?

I had quite a lot of faffing around with pullies on my Westinghouse compressor and found that if I made the motor pulley too small the belt slipped because the running tension in the belt became too high.

These have a bigger flywheel than the AC25, mine runs with twin A-belts unlike the Broomwade and as Rtb says you can faff around for days as his skip comp thread shows.
3Hp will run it of course but will you be able to get it up to a useful pressure to work whatever air tool you have in mind for it, you would get high vol but low pressure you cant escape the fact that you have a large surface area of the piston to push against the pressure.

Smaller pulley on the motor or bigger pulley on the pump will give the pressure but reduce the cfm.

But his compressor has to run on at least the minimum rpm of 500 is where I mean he would get the volume not the pressure if there wasn't a min speed you could of course gear it right down.

So what sort of revs would a motor producing 1450 rpm reproduce on the pump with the pulley step up?
