@Shox Dr you probably already know this, but if you find that the rpm meter won’t work, try flipping the magnet over. It’s polarity sensitive.
Guess how many times I checked and rechecked the wiring before I worked that out!

That's very neat
The large thrust bearing is an interesting idea - was it fiddly trying to get the preload right? Guess you adjust it just by how tight you nip the retaining bolt on the shaft? Takes away the issue of a big lump of ally on a very small shaft I assume? That was why I went with the layshaft approach on mine.
Liking the control box, making my metal folding look a bit agricultural
