Building a Barrell blasting machine

Had those at Petters for deburring the aluminium crankcases and heads, left a lovely finish. Also had massive Wheelabrators at Omes Faulkner for cleaning forged half shafts, they had hardened wear plates in the most vulnerable places that were expensive to replace.

Its a nice little machine, just don't do what I need it too for certain parts, still not sure of the rotating blaster will do it either.

That would be the downfall of the home made wheelabrator-anything less than the hardest of wear plates would shread in hours. Did ponder one day to make a blasting machine with a conveyor and multiple nozzels- make new heads for a V-6 alfa engine and turn it into an air comp, drive it off the pto of the tractor and yer blastin'. not got round to that one yet, (bit noisy)

Not sure of the material, this was back in the early 80's when I was an apprentice so I can only guess at heat treated high carbon steel. I vaguely remember some of smaller used plates being built up with Stellite to keep the machines running 24/7.
