But with badged tools do you not have a better guaranteed item ??
I think a lot of air tools look the same, but generally I stick to CP but I rarely pay more than £20 off ebay
chicago pneumatic also consolidated pneumaticCP? For the life of me, the penny won't drop as to what brand that is.
quite a lot of there stuff is good quality. a few items arent up 2 the mark like copys of moor and wright stuffI've bought a fair few tools for my workshop over the years and really struggle to find anything inbetween mega expensive (Snap-on) and cheap not so good (Clarke)
For sockets and "basic metal" I tend to use Laser or Sealey but buy online as it costs a fortune from my local motor factors even with trade discount.
I get fed up with Sealey for workshop eqpt though as most of their stuff looks identical to Clarke and costs twice as much
For actual tools I often by secondhand now, all my panel beating dollys, hammers, files etc were all 2nd hand.
Bought a new Clarke air impact gun and it wouldn't shift a wheel nut torqued up above 80Nm, took it back, MM sent it off, came back "stripped & tested ok", still wouldn't shift a wheel nut. Bought a used Snap-on & its brill.
My learning is to be smart what you buy from where, if its "machinery" that will get heavy use I try to buy the best (second hand).
Anyone used the "kennedy" or "Kobe" brands from Cromwell, mid range on price but not sure on quality?
Cheers,
MM

quality stuff been on the market yearsSame here. Snail Brand is another one I seem to keep appropriating on top of the others too. Only problem with collecting the old stuff is the amount of cleaning some of it needs. My pile of tools waiting for the electrolysis bath keeps growing. Gonna have to get that up and running again.
What's the Desoutter pneumatic kit like, quality wise, btw?
