That is my biggest fear.
Somebody saying 'I dont like that'.
I always start off with lots of talk and discussion about what I can and cant do.
I have a mate who can help with drawings. I also send photos of the whole process and ask for approval at each stage.
But this is a very subjective business. Right not right?
But so far I have not had a problem.
But a hell of a relief when I get confirmation from my customer.

When you are commissioned to do one of your pieces, I think that is because they trust and are interested in the artist's interpretation. You have earned people's interest, and respect. I'm betting they like bragging that they have one of your pieces. No worries, Chunko.

Young animals always have exaggerated features due to bone structure development. So disproportionate facial features are the cartoonists normal way of making them cutsie.
Looking great C, maybe suggest the eyes with pupils only, rather than whole balls. And eyebrows over. Big ears important (like the original sketch) And plastic tags for the dept of fish & ag??
Coat on, door closing.
On the skin, I was thinking a patchwork of sheet and spaces, like the black and white jobbies. But def not suited to your flowing lines.
Really difficult with Mum. Don't envy you those discussions.

Had another go at the head today.
Luckily as I cycled to work I saw three tiny calves watching me with their ears flapping around. A big help in sorting this one out.
Lopped the ears off, bashed them with a hammer and job done, I think.
Head photographed by the lovely slurry pond on the farm.
See also the whole thing, the tail is a bit obscured by the legs, but I have made a small tassley thing on the end.
Pretty much finished. I will pop a pair of short bars onto the neck to take the jawline back into the body.
Will keep you posted as to how we get on.

but if needs must. The sculptures coming along great are you going to add any features such as eyes or a nose or are you leaving as is ?

I find details a nightmare, once you start adding them when do you stop.
Mum is a bit puzzled but likes it. She wants the 'tail up' interesting. I must avoid it looking like it is doing no2's. That is vital, if there was even a hint of that it would become a focal point.
The photo by the sleeper fence does not really work.
I will redo it in a few days. Hopefully Mum is coming to visit soon.

if i may make a suggestion try the eyes on the spar below the ear and forward maybe a couple of inches as for the tail i think tail up wont work i would recommend having it swishing it's tail to the side in a playful motion .

I was unable to make it to the unveiling but everybody loved Toro as he seems to be called. Always a relief to me when this kind of thing goes down well.
Here he is in his Galvanized splendour.
The dates on the plaque refer to his dates at college.
I have not found them yet but there are photos on facebook of senior staff at the college riding on his back. Luckily I planned for that.
I want to see the facebook images of the students 'riding' him.
