I'm sure that cable operated drum brakes would cope just fine. No, no, it needs a ported big-bore kit, tuned expansion pipe and a bigger carb
4LS front drum ?I'm sure that cable operated drum brakes would cope just fine.
Or I could go the whole hog and see about grafting in one of the 640 cc twins currently languishing in the Ski-Doos?
It might be an age thing, but there's no way I'll be paying over a grand for a drum brake no matter how pretty it is.

I know, and if you're building a special it'd probably make some sense. I'll be happy with something a little different to use as a commuter which is why I don't want to chuck a ton of cash into a period correct, rivets counted, no expense spared creation.Believe me it was not a serious suggestion !
Nice . You do as you like , it's your bike !Probably worth mentioning, but I didn't mean that I was just going to close it back up as is. I was referring to being happy that it didn't need an over size piston and boring to suit.
Once the barrel and head have been stripped of paint the bore will get a light hone, new rings (if available) then the piston and combustion chamber cleaned. Then it'll go back together with fresh oil.
@redlig was just expressing an opinion rather than having a pop, that's how I took it anyway. Which is all good, it's a public forum after all.Nice . You do as you like , it's your bike !
Anyone else who thinks It should be done different , should show one they've done earlier .
How many photo's are we allowed?Nice . You do as you like , it's your bike !

True, and it's always difficult to get across what you're trying to achieve (budget, use, etc) with a project/job without writing an essay and boring the bejesus out of everyone. But if you don't give the full story the condensed version can invite comments because people can only work from the info provided.Glad you took it the way it was intended. It's difficult to offer " advice or comment" without upsetting the guy with actual oil under his nails. but sometimes the rubbernecker see's things that are not obvious or have already been decided on. My problem is that having spent 20 years doing that at M/C dealers , as an occupation, it's difficult to always stand back.
Not sure whil have the hp to overcome the inertia
What ! No sign of a scaffold tube . Nice one .Remove, chock, clamp, squash, refit and it's back to where it should be.
