Can anyone identify this propeller?

It has a diameter of 14' I'm told. Lancaster perhaps?

I thought piston powered aircraft propellers attached directly to the engine. With this having some sort of jack-shaft I'm guessing it's come off a turbo prop engine.

The front assembly looks like it might be some mechanism for adjusting the blade pitch.

Whichever way, it's very cool!

I could be completely wrong but if it was from a Lancaster it would be a Merlin engine and they have a reduction box between the engine and prop. However I think the shaft on the back of that prop would be too long for a Merlin engine. @CompoSimmonite might have the right idea

Longest shaft would be a P-39 Aircobra, Merlin behind the pilot... Three-blade and variable pitch, just like in the pics...

Didn't the P-39 have a 37mm cannon through the propellor? Looks very much like a Hamilton standard or De havilland, should be numbers somewhere to identify a blade or the hub then the aircraft type. Radial engine?

I would say it’s not a merlin reduction gear.
P39 had an Allison, not a merlin, shaft went through a tube between the pilots legs. If the pilot stuffed the landing and clipped the prop on the ground they had the tendency to whip the shaft around the cockpit and make a mess. I’ll forward the picture on to my boss in the morning and no doubt get a definitive. Where abouts is it? Pm me if you don’t want to share on open forum, might help with ID if we know whereabouts it is

Other option might be a De Havilland propellor. From what I can see on the photo the hub half forgings have a lot of similarities to the Hamilton.

The man that knows had suggested either a sabre or an Allison v1710, deffo not Merlin, p&w, Bristol or Wright with that gear

Thanks for the efforts so far. It was recovered a few years back about two miles off-shore from Dover. The Receiver of Wrecks was informed, by the way.

There are some numbers on the hub but I couldn't make them out in the low light last night. There is also an AID number which he believes to be from inspection. I can get him to forward me those if anyone thinks it will help.
