I think it’s actually the mod that has jurisdiction over the recovery of crashed military aircraft parts, regardless of nationality.but that’s irrelevant now. I would be inclined to take my bosses opinion on it, very few folks in the country with the sort of stuff he’s got rattling around in his head.

given where it was recovered, i would be inclined to believe its likely from a mustang or a lightning if it is an allison, most likely aircraft using that engine type in that theater. unlikely any of the numbers will shed any light on the origin of the prop, the key part is that reduction gear

Would be pretty rare for a p40 to be in or around England. Same engine as the others I’ve mentioned tho

Post war yes, North American F-86 Sabre as used in Korea. The Sabre referred to here is the Napier Sabre piston engine. Link
