Is that a remote wire feed sitting on top? Why is that handier than having the wire feed in the machine - 30kg spools? Or is the machine so filled up with amps and the speedpulse it has no room left for a spool of wire? How many amps did you go for? Biggest one I hope

Yes, seperate wire feed unit - takes 15kg spools. Our other machines are compacts, so don't have the seperate wire feed.
Handy for working on big assemblies where you can just drag the top box about and leave the rest of the machine (and gas bottle) out of the way.
We're rigging this up on a boom arm - i'll post a pic when we eventually get round to doing it.
That is 450 amps. I think our biggest is 500 amps.

Did you take up the option of buying Lorches welding procedures and pre-set programmes? I guess you already had them in place as EN1090 but just wondering if you find them useful.
My friend often has his separate wire feeder mounted off an overhead swinging arm near the work bench or sometimes swinging from the overhead travelling workshop crane. One man band so no one else is likely to take it on a journey.

Where do you put your coffee mug
On the work bench using grinding discs as coasters, provides a bit of heat insulation and stops the cold steel bench sucking the heat out of a brew too quick.

We have a copy in the office but because we are Execution Class Three we can't use pre-prescribed weld procedures and have to have our own.
Will post pics once it's up. We have an overhead crane backwards and forwards all day but the boom is set below so 'shouldn't' hit.
The boom is 5m long so including torch gives us around 9-10m coverage - handy for tacking up long beams. The welders still use the compacts which are fine for a static position.

Only problem is the interconnect is like a big spring and keeps pushing the WFU to the end of the arm. Someone seems to have put a bit of rope on now

That set is only used for tacking so a spool lasts forever. If it was a production set we would have fashioned a way of quickly lowering the WFU down.
It's easy enough just to stand on the bench to change the spool.
Some use 250kg drums sat on the floor but obviously they have to feed the wire a long way. The wire wizard helps.
