I’ve got a 7530D on my wish list - how does it lock if you don’t have a compressed air supply?

Actually the exact opposite in fact - it locks brilliantly, however it won't unlock without an air supply, which could be an issue if you discover that after you have put the car 3 feet in the air of course
Logical if you think about it, you want it to fail safe.

It doesn't take much air to release the locks, I would imagine any size of compressor would be sufficient for the purpose.
You will still want the air on when raising a vehicle though, as it will raise the locks so you don’t get an annoying clonk as it goes over each ratchet tooth.

The next model up without the bars in between has two rams each side and no ratchet safety so no air is required.

Well after much deliberation and realising whatever lift I went for was going to be a compromise I went for a Quickjack. Lifting height is the downside with this one but I am limited with height anyway in my workshop. These are mobile which is the big advantage and can be run off a car battery so I can easily use them in any part of the workshop or even take them in the car and use them elsewhere. I bought a 12v powerpack from Halfords to use with the lift as the main power source. Will see how things go.

i wish someone would make lifts like hgv column lifts but affordable and will run on single phase

A review of the quick jacks would be good if you get the time I have been looking at the heavy duty 4x4 ones

They do, depends on your definition of “affordable”

I bought the same lift to put up outside in the yard, at 4.2 ton I thought it would be handy for the smaller trucks. Not put it up yet but it does seem well made.They guy selling it had only just bought it and had to move out of the workshop.
