Car Polisher (machine, not man)

I know, sexist title, should have included woman.

Anyway, the point, I am looking to buy a car buffing/polishing machine. My pal has one that I borrowed but I don't like to keep on asking, once is enough so I want one of my own.

Couple of reasons, I am getting older (not for the faint hearted I can tell you) and I really do not like to polish cars. I just want something that I can use to give a quick cut back with some Farecla and then a bit of polish. This will get used maybe a handful of times a year and if I play my cards right my youngest will want to borrow it and "while he is at it" give mine a quick going over :-)

So I don't need a Professional version of whatever but something reasonably priced and most of all, functional.

Iv got the silver line and had it ages only used it a handful of times

I use the red mop sponges but they do break down fairly quickly

If you respect the rotary one its brilliant,
But can burn edges if not careful.

A dual action is more user friendly but cant cut as hard.

If you want a rotary buffer (fastest but easiest to burn through paint) the Silverline jobby is perfectly fine for occasional use, I've used mine for several resprays and it has held up just fine and gave excellent results when paired with quality pads.

For paint maintenance and gentle polishing an orbital is a safer choice - the DAS-6 was recommended to me a few years ago and I've had good results with it.

Be careful, you're heading for a swamp - you'll get sucked in and next it'll be clay bars, different brushes for different jobs, maaany polishes/waxes/ sealants "just to try" ......ask me how I know.... I could start a shop

As others have said, a DA machine will serve your purpose well, I'd be surprised if you need to use it more than twice a year tbh.
Do a bit of reading over on Detailing World, just don't blame me if you get hooked.....

EXACTLY why I want a machine.

I have been there, done that and bought Meguirs stuff when it was only available mail order. There is no chance. I have far better things to do with my time but I get massive Brownie Points if the Missus' car is *SPARKLY*. I prefer not spending the whole day doing it.
