I couldn’t imagine anything worse than wasting a day polishing a car

Never had the pleasure.
Wash mine in the spring after the winter abuse and that's my limit.

I have done a few cars and bike petrol tanks with it. Would buy same again if it packs up.

I have Silverline rotary polisher (Got after borrowing a friends Makita unit) and use Flexipads sponges/mops (seem to last well). Only downside of the rotary is you can create swirls and holograming very easily. If you are new to it I would go for the DA version. You need to get the paint clean before starting, i.e. using a clay bar to remove embedded particles in the paint etc. before starting. Used it to cut paint, using G10 and then apply polish. Still wax by hand.

I only have one due to trying to keep van paintwork tidy.
