Yeah they’re good trucks.

The land cruiser pick up is better but you don’t see them so much.

F250 size is about the biggest American one I’ve seen here. Saw a F350 once but that was near an airbase.

Ex boss has an F150 velociraptor the Hennessy edition it’s massive

He had an F350 2018 and it was just impractical to park let alone use the country lanes where we live

I’ve only seen one pick up one for sale. Missed out on it.

They’re better than the lux, and they’re good.

Were really popular in France but not sure about now.

Mainly an African thing

I was in Argentina, and spotted a gooseneck home made camper on a Hi-lux, sadly I could not snap a pix that fast.

Yes, I know what the owners manual states, however I have seen on a forum where some people have pulled Scamp-19 gooseneck trailers with the Tacoma (Hi-lux), and not violate any weight requirements.

A gooseneck does not have to be only BIG, they pull very nicely, and handle various loading conditions (like hauling machinery and various "Stuff") much more tolerant of off perfect. IE too much or not enough tongue weight.

I have a layout from a few years ago I made for just such a trailer, the weights are pretty low.

It was the last year of that body style, and they finally started doing something about corrosion,
All the former ones (69-78) were made from compressed rust IMHO.

Our pickups don’t have the same physical dimensions or engines to match

Let alone the allowed weight to move stuff

You do see navaras with American 5th wheel trailers

What’s popular in Europe are mini tractor trailers derived from vans like the iveco daily. They look really handy.

Super imposed load / semi imposed load - I can’t remember the correct term but the allowable train weight is higher than a standard drawbar coupling.

I don’t know how the maths works but you can go heavier for sure.

25% tongue weight for a gooseneck, only 10% for a bumper pull.

Here is the trailer I built:

Its hitched to a 2007 Chevy Colorado.
The frame was a ladder section from a firetruck. very hand for long items.

back in the 60s one of the local bakeries had an articulated delivery van with a Morris 1000 pickup pulling it.

YES ! I remember saving the article on that, but could not find it now.
IIRC it was made extra light using sq. tube aluminum, and riveted aluminum sheets on the sides.

All I can find is the length that changes. Over 3.5t for the tow vehicle you can go longer.

I’m pretty certain the appeal of the 5th wheel is you can go heavier as well? Maybe there’s some replating involved but in my memory it’s allowed somehow.

I bought an ex RAC recovery trailer quite cheaply (I think it was £295) for less than cost of materials to make one. Used it all over Europe as well as UK and then sold it for more than I paid when it started to deteriorate

Train weight is the same.

pretty sure train weights change once you swap to air breaks etc. ?
