We would love the white pub kitten above as it's yet to find a home. Two problems though. First we don't know the sex. Our big old tom cat likely wouldn't take too well to another male. Then, he has to have a special urinary related diet (or he'll die). Can't think of a practical way to stop him eating the kitten's food and vice versa.

I've always found they get on fine if the new one is very young when brought into the household, they seem to be programmed not to attack babies.. I guess you'd be having his nuts off as well subsequently so they're not going to have a male contest as such!
As to the feeding you'd just have to separate them for feeding, one of these here has the urinary kibbles too and the others don't nick it.. Obviously the little one would be easy to exclude from high up places for a while at least

The existing one isn't neutered. Technically he's not ours anyway. He was a stray that got ill. When we took him to the vets and they asked his name and address we had the vet asking "Are you sure?" His microchip said different! We contacted the owners who thought he'd just run off / presumed dead. Seems a bit cruel to give him the chop now he's an old cat. Tbh he's clean and doesn't spray indoors or anything.

Well done for standing by the old boy, I certainly wouldn't dream of giving him the chop!
Just in my experience, with quite a lot of moggies over the years, if you bring in a very little one they normally take to it fine, our old boy actually enjoyed having a kit to play with on a couple of occasions when new ones came home, and was like a cat dad!

One of ours (who is naturally greedy) has to have renal food while the other one is hard to persuade to eat so we have to give her stuff with lots of calories to bulk her up. The way we ended up dealing with it was very expensive, but works very well - a microchip reading feeder:

Gave my cat a good talking to on the lines of "Right then, the beans are in and it's your job to patrol and keep them free of vermin". He follows me up now and runs round the edge of the sleepers like he's proud to have a job.

This morning he was waiting outside the bedroom door and was definitely trying to tell me something. Expecting the worse I went up to the beans and they were all there perfect. He kept running round my feet.

Turns out I'd left the house keys on one of the sleepers all night. Only when I picked them up did he settle.

Of course the sleepers also give a nice vantage point from which to pounce into the long grass or that the soil is nice and soft in there...

At a wedding on Friday at a posh vineyard, and fast asleep on my wife's chair at the dining table was a very relaxed grey cat, completely unfazed by all the activities. Being properly trained, my wife perched on the front of the chair as not to disturb it.

I've had a couple of mogs who would gently extend their claws into the rear of the sitter, just to remind them who's boss.

Later in the day it was cooler and he was sitting on the sump pump cover on the lawn and I was wondering why.
I got out the thermal imaging camera and snapped him.

The square lid was slightly warmer than the grass!
