Got one of these off Ebay

As faulty - fitted correct fuse and orf it jolly well went

Plus three other Silent Compressors, each with a fridge motor, small receiver and pressure switch, two had pressure gauges.

One works, but air leaks, one tries to start, the other is completely dead.

Paid £20.00 for the lot, but the vendor wanted something picking up from Sheffield and taking to Chesterfiled for him so knocked a tenner off!

Like an electric lawnmower I got off Freecycle. It packed up so the guy bought a new one - the fault? A wire had come loose in the plug!

sounds about right. Once had to retrain a machine operator after i had the change the colour of a button as i needed it to do two things in the back. The button stayed in same place with same label and had to be pushed at the same time.

Not to the extent of chucking a £50.00 lawnmower

i don't mind plugs. PAT testing is boring one did a spot where they wanted the plugs changing every year to prevent stress fractures from being dropped etc that was a long job.

lots of perfectly usable plugs to use on jobs! At least there is usually tidy lasses in offices to keep the mind busy while your waiting for the tester to catch up.

I'm hoping to have a go this weekend. I have had the red one in bits to take some pics which I'll post later. That is a conventional direct drive oil-less machine, bit too noisy for an office!

That looks like a little run capacitor to increase the mtr power there, call me old fashioned but not a big fan of that practice, what will you use it for? sell it on put funds towards a new mtr for the westinghouse!

Could it be a start capacitor?

I've already got a 4 pole motor and a couple of pullies for the Westinghouse, was going to fit it last weekend but got defeated by the weather.

I've got a small changing room so I don't traipse blast dust all over the place and I thought of putting it in there to keep it warm. I'm not sure of its duty cycle though. It's in a plastic housing and wouldn't want to start a fire in that!

the capacity is to "Lead" the current to get the motor to turn. As there is only 1 i guess it a capacitor start rather than capacitor start capacitor run.

Looks like a run cap from the pic, could be wrong though, more than likely it unloads when swiching off so doersent need high starting torque if you remember those TEE comp specs i posted most of them have run caps so they can claim higher mtr hp. looking foreward for pics of the silent ones my guess that they are aspera comps but havent seen one close up yet. if you need starting elecs for them let me know.

Could well be not shure eather way I'm more used to 3ph motors.
