cheap ebay blasting pot - worth it?

how does any of this compare to dry and wet soda blasting chaps? i have been looking to get one of theses cheapy kits, but mainly with a view of wet and dry soda blasting of delecate parts like carbs, pistons etc
is there much other equipment needed does anyone know?

I beadblast as well as shot and sand. soda can be washed away leaving no trace .vapour blasting is just bead blasting using water as propellant and give a slightly better finish

sorry brightspark, i may not have been totally clear, sorry! i was asking more so are these kits suitable for soda, have you ever tried it with yours? iwas looking at the one in machine mart that states it does soda, but im still not fully clear on the differences if any in the kit between soda and other media types?

supposidly u can get a metering valve to fit them for soda blasting. I haven't tried the stuff its 2 expensive and one use only

to me it just looks like a a cheap ball metering valve with a t piece on the side with tap and flexible pipe . where does the flexi pipe go to. it must be on the pressurised side somewhere ??

I wont buy one for something I could make for a tenner if I knew what it did . I think the soda is available from a company 20 miles up the road from me costing 8 quid a bag I think . it comes in different grade size

not realy needed then its a bit of a con. the metering valves I make run very fine media namely kiln dried sand

yep gas bottle. the other pics are the internal of the grit valve much better than a crappy ball valve that have a tendency to block if the media isn't uniform

Slightly OT [and perhaps a stupid question ], but has anyone tried those blasting nozzles used with pressure washers? Like this:

ive seen houses been sandblasted with large power washers same thing not as goodand fast as dry blasting and it makes a bloody wet sandy mess but better than nothing

I was thinking about alu castings etc [mainly small like carbs etc] so might have a go at something like this then, since I have one of that type of gun already [somewhere] and a small compressor. I'd just need to get a moisture trap for the air supply.
