They look similar to a set I got from Aldi which I'm sure I paid quite a bit less for, they have taken some abuse and still good.

oh there are cheaper ones never seen them in Aldi.

Oh and I want to use them for welding, I do not want to use my decent Irwin clamps as I thing the pads will melt

I do like the Carvers but still find the need for a conventional G clamp and the sash type the OP listed. One clamp wont do all, just sometimes even the mole grips come in handy.

Carvers are nice clamps... I own one, that was rescued from a skip.

I daren't look at the latest retail prices

The sash clamps listed, I own about 12 of, varying states of usefulness but I wouldn’t be without them.

I saw a few of your Carvers on Sunday B1B - I never realised they came in such a range of sizes. I have a few but they’re significantly smaller.

Great tools, and they clamp so tight. It always surprises me that the Tommy bars get bent like they do! How far out of square must the job be?

In all my time ive found the carver clamp can give you one of the best blood blisters when you slide the adjuster out, there are times when you know its going to happen and you just say -- it and carry on, other times it can catch ya when your not looking........ either way I wouldn't be without em

Got one at work thats virtually a 2 man lift. Probably cost £500+
