Look at these shocking
If you can find some old record clamping parts you can make your own bars of different lengths and just swap the clamping parts over
I have loads of cheapish f clamps they are very useful and i modify many for use on the bench by adfing a 16mm peg. View attachment 170415
Yes i hardly used them in the past. However i am a total convert nowadays. To be fair i can lay out an entire gate say without a single tack. Remember i aint even laying a square on it because of my peg system bench.Thats a lot of clamps on one little frame
A lot depends on what you make. However i seriously wouldn't want to make another of these without the bench and clamping system. Remember if it was a batch (something i rarely do is another the same let alone a batch ) the time saving would be immense (could mean puttingbin a cheaper bid than a competitor or making substantial extra profit)I was in the store last week, and had a good look at the clamps section up the end there. I must admit, I was quite impressed by the feel of them, and a decent range for day to day use. I nearly bought some, but spent my dosh on other stuff instead

Starting to get a bit of a clamping obsession. Last few projects I have run into the classic problem of lack of suitable clamps even though I have over 30 or more. I have been stung by cheap sash claps that bend and strip threads so have decided secondhand decent clamps are the way to go. Been picking up Bessey and kennedy clamps as they come up locally at decent prices. Would never be able to justify new prices for such and at the end of the day very little to go wrong with a clamp so secondhand is a safe bet in my experience.
