Great guide with a handy addendum from ONOFF for the older machines, like my 130TE.

Only bought it a couple of weeks ago, so want to get all the consumables renewed before I get to learning the art of the arc. Last thing I want is the machine going up it.

So unwound filler wires are as good as scrap? I received 2 no gas wires, part used and ALL unwound. To be fair, they have a have a few spots of the red peril on them so I guess I already know the answer.

Just to add I ran a file over the cut, "welder" end of the liner when I shortened it as it was a bit sharp.

I used to rotate it against a grinding wheel when replacing liners, allows them to slide through the harness without snagging.

Used this guide to change to torch liner on my circa 1987/88 Clarke 130TE. Got the liner from Weldequip.

The cable clamp on mine is a bit different and tba a bit of a pita. Two self tappers then two longer machine screws with nuts and star washers. As you unscrew the long screws the nut and washer falls off meaning you have to unscrew the other side of the case to retrieve and fit back when you've finished:

The new wire liner: At the torch end on mine I needed a 9mm spanner to undo the old liner but an 8mm spanner for the new one.

The new wire liner is covered in a blue plastic liner but it doesn't cover the entire length of the liner. This is after cutting off about 2':

All back together now and wire fed through.

JESUS CHRIST THOSE TWO DAMN SCREWS!!!! I was turning them for ages thinking WHY ARENT THESE COMING OUT!!!! Then all of a sudden heard a "tap" and thought B**********, after not being able to get the top off i just bent it open... Why arent those two nuts welded onto the box inside or something -_- drove me insane.

You just take a few screws off the other side panel. Don't need to do the one by the wheel though. Then something long to flick the nuts through to the side where the wire reel sits. Long nose pliers assist in getting the nuts back in.

I took all the visible ones out, the one covered behind the wheel and the ones on the wire feed side above the panel, still wouldnt come off! Didn't have the energy to give it my 100%.. Not going to bother putting them back on i don't think, the two self tappers will suffice i reckon.

That's good info to know, as it's a 150TE which i have.
I bought it 2nd hand around 6 years ago, the guy i bought it from hardly used it,he had bought it to do one wee job, it really was like a new welder, and still is due to me only using it the past couple of weeks.
As i'm new to MIG welding, how would i know if i needed a new liner ? Ta

same here rusty also got the 150te like new and still looks new as its looked after

it stutters and sticks when your welding also can be caused by your rolling being wrongly set up to wrong wire 0.8 instead of 0.6 also watch for your tips and shrouds

Very nice writeup -I changed the liner and swan neck on my Pro-90 a few months ago an it looked very similar to your 150 so I guess the guide will suit any of the Clark machines.
Check the length of the new liner before you cut it - I made the new one the same length as the one I removed but a bit longer would have been better. Oops !
And good point about making sure it ends very close to the drive wheels to avoid birds-nesting the wire.

i have a similar machine with plastic liner can i get a 0.6 to 1.0 euro torch liner and cut it to length and install it?
i must do the test with 1 kg of sugar to see if it pulls the wire.
