Top work love the swarf slide , . Do you not use cutting oil /coolant ? I just use the aerosol stuff ,have you thought of fitting a pumped system .?

When you get it all built back up make sure you dial in the vice with a small square on the square edge on the casting in relation to the blade for a clean 90 degree cut..find the 90 degree and mark the casting with a scribe or sharp file and also for the 45 degree. Reason being is the end of the curved slot is a couple of degree out on the 90 and 45 in relation to the blade...Great job so far by the way
Today I also started the big job of painting. I still haven't got the paint stripper to deal with the bandsaw itself (and presumably won't get it tomorrow either what with it being New Year's Day), but that doesn't stop me working on the base. I've done very little painting of anything other than walls or skirting boards in the past and it's usually something I shy away from (I do the make-it-stay-up, my better half does the make-it-look-pretty). I also do everything I can to stay out of conversations about "what colour should it be", so hopefully the bandsaw will look alright after I make all the colour choices!
Anyway, colours have yet to appear: so far all I've done is the two half-coats (with the workpiece in different orientations) of some Tractol 816 light-grey primer (photo colours look odd because of the rubbish light in my dining room):

Talking of colours, I am slightly regretting only buying one colour when I ordered the Tractol paint. I had assumed I'd just get some black locally, but the Tractol stuff (the primer at least) seems to go on very well, so I might just have to bite the bullet and place another order (just means paying the high delivery price again unfortunately). I'll probably get some black, some more primer and maybe another colour as well to make it seem a bit more worthwhile.
Thanks for that. Cirencester is only about 1/2 hour away. Shame I've already ordered some more from up northDepending on where in Glos you are, Listers In Cirencester used to do Tractol, might be worth a call.
