CLARKE COMPRESSED AIR CUT OFF TOOL

Hi,

So I have a 100L compressor (details below) and the Clarke 3" cut off tool, the tool spins but when trying to cut it just stops spinning.

HIGH PERFORMANCE: its 2200W motor, 8 bar / 116psi pressure and 356L / minute airflow make this air compressor the perfect choice for all hobby and professional applications.

Should the compressor be enough to run the tool? I guess it requires more than it states.

what you got the regulator set too?

I just did a test by filling the tank and opening the regulator up, this showed 115 at the compressor and the same on the regulator at the tool end. When running the tool it drops to 60 psi.

What's the bore of your hose? It sounds as though you have a flow restriction. Possibly too small a connector as well.

It is this one, 15m, 15bar, Inner tube 8 mm / Outer tube 13 mm

I will do the same test with the other lines I have.

I think it maybe the line, I will order a 10mm bore or larger to test.

Stick it straight into the compressor reg. You’ll know for sure about the line that way.

Thanks, I tried that and there is a huge difference.

I have ordered 2 lines to test, both shorter in length at 10m (15m was more than enough) one with a 10mm bore and one with a 13mm bore.

I have an almost identical tool and 50L compressor, with 10mm bore 5m length hose and PCL XF connectors it runs fine.

Don't get your euro fittings from Machine Mart though, they're well overpriced!

Screwfix are reasonably priced for the XF.

all my main airlines are minimum 10mm and 15 mm bore with high flow fittings only the whip tails smaller bore on the light stuff

The new hoses arrived today but I didn't get a chance to test them, that is a job for tomorrow.

The new 10m/13mm bore hose has sorted it!! What a difference, thanks all for the help

Interesting....I have a Ferrex and as we need it portable thought it would be ok. But it does very quickly using this.

This is the spec of the compressor.


It says it runs at 8 bar (120psi) so should be well in but I am suspecting it's not getting that at the tool. Probably because of the pressure gauge.
I am going to run it direct from the tank tommorow if I can find the correct connector. But I am wondering what adding another 50 litre tank would do for me? (Anything or nothing) my guess is just longer between the compressor kicking in but not helping with the pressure.?

Exactly that. Why should having a bigger tank at the end of the same restrictive airline make it work?

What hose you using? Just try putting the tool directly on the compressor outlet to see if the regulator system is restricting it. Its easy to do with a couple of connectors.

Easier said than done...lol. That was my plan but the connection in the end of the air tank appears to be 1/2 inch BSP and I don't have any xF connectors with that size on the end. Screwfix just don't supply these and the usual eBay 2 week wait and search for outlets that wil do next-day are non existent.
No local outlets ,as far as I can tell, stock them.
