I was keen on the support package. REally important as that was my first venture into cnc.

Done basics before on a milling machine but I had someone to ask. This needed to be a, idiot proof and b, reasonably easy to pick up. Don't mind learning more as I go on, in fact I'm quite enjoying it, but I wanted to get going with the minimum of fuss

10mm cut at 50a the feedrate is too slow to show up any issues with the table, would be intresting to see some more demanding profiles in 1mm and 2mm off the xtreme and what feedrate they cut at. Do you have any?

1.6mm 2800-3000 mm min
2mm 1800-2000 mm min
3mm Either 1200mm min at 30 amp or 3000 mm min at 45 amp

You should get something in your budget

I got the 50A Rtech because that's the biggest I could get on 240 single phase but if I manage to move workshops next year I will look at the 100A one. 10mm is no problems

Can you get a CNC Torch for the 50 amp Rtech?

Yes - Thats what it comes with. There are two 50A machines - one is CNC and one isnt. I'm not sure if the torch will fit both. Rtech or Xtreme are the people to check with

You can now buy a hand torch for the cnc spec cutter.

Cutting slower at lower amps will give a better finish and be more forgiving of any mechanical issues with the table. When I say issues I'm not trying to be negative, these are budget tables definitely not defective.

Hypertherm cut charts recommend faster cutting speed than the xtreme, doesn't mean manufacturers of tables supplied with hypertherm powermax plasma source use these settings. Only really a consideration if speed is important.

That's what I've found with really intricate cuts and fine detail better running less amps and slower feeds

Just had a quote back from Escco, a gnats cock short of £19k plus the VAT, and that’s only classed as “Rental”, there’s another payment “Option to Purchase” of £90 plus the VAT.

Double the budget available, but, includes delivery, installation and training.

I’ll be looking elsewhere after Christmas though, as it is quite a bit out of my budget.

The standard 50 amp plasma will not work with a machine torch , you will need the CNC cutter.
The CNC cutter now has a hand torch option that works very well.

Had a quick look at their website, they all seem to keep pricing hidden which is a bit of a pain, but I’ll fire an email over to them for details and pricing.
Looking like the SwiftCut Pro2500 with the Hypertherm 45XP is the unit that will fit the space.

Which model is that quote for?

That was for the ProCut 840 with the Hypertherm 45XP, Tom.
Reading back through the quote properly, it seems Loic didn’t listen fully, and has included a 415v 10hp FIAC screw compressor and dryer, despite saying on numerous occasions in the conversation that we only have 230v available, hence the 45XP power source! So that would take £5k plus VAT off the price!

The 8x4 Pro table with a Hypertherm 105 was about £24k including vat in February. By April/may they had it up for 19k

I would reccomend escco over swiftcut tho the software for programming shapes in is so simple and quick makes smaller batches feasible rather than making by hand manually
