I think I came across this issue (in my separate post) because I don't usually use my compressor all that much - because it's a little one, it's not set up anywhere permanently so it's a fiddle to drag it out, build up pressure, do the job and then put it all away again, so unless I can only do the job with an air tool, it would be left. I'm now finding that I need stuff like the die grinder and 3" cut-off a lot more, so out it comes.
For me, it's nice to know that it's not just my compressor, or the fact that it's a little one. I will have a look at changing the oil anyway, because it has the same oil that was in it when I first bought it (which it turns out was 2007) and I'm not even sure how to top it up, never mind drain it. I shall have to dig out the manual.
