I've got a job just starting that requires unbolting probably five thousand M20 plain nuts and bolts to dismantle a temporary structure. I set about it today with a pair of 30mm combination spanners and a Makita 18V 1/2" nut gun. Well, it turns out that some of these bolts are effing tight, so tight that even with a solid pull I can't undo them with a 16" long spanner. Some of them are a struggle with two spanners locked together. The 18V Makita manages probably one in four. The bolts are not rusted but they have been in the weather for 4 years.
I need a better nut gun. It's got to be powerful yet compact so I'm looking for suggestions borne of experience not just catalogue torque figures. Stuff has to be site duty not occasional-use quality it has to cope with several months of day in day out work and be able to take a knock or two. The makitas are great for that!
110v is not an option or I wouldn't even be asking I would just grab a heavy duty 110v one from the stores.
So, what's good, small, powerful and built to last? Specifically it needs to have a high hammer torque to crack these bolts off.
Cheers
