8ob has mentioned the risk of the socket falling, but also consider what facilities the tool has for teathering. It will make a considerably bigger dent in someone's bonce if it drops than a 30mm socket and might not work too well afterwards either. The red colour might save a little cleaning.
For the second problem, employ a less porky worker.
All tools are tethered. What I tend to do with spanners etc is put a giant zip tie around the waist and clip the tether onto that.
Anyway, thanks for all the input. The deal is done on the 700nm Makitas with 1000nm nut busting torque got two coming tomorrow. My current Makita is a 245 model or something with 400nm of nut busting torque so the new ones will be 2.5x as much which I'm sure will be enough for all but the most stubborn ones.
Got my first big section out today. The first of a great many. I'm not really allowed to share pics of the work but this one gives nothing away. Basically I have to dismantle this lot it's a couple of hundred metres long.
