Strange then having sorted the unloader valve out the hydrovane worked perfectly.
Kind regards, Colin.
The unloader only operates as the motor is de-powered. If the motor carries on running into the red then the pressure switch is not operating properly. But, since the unloader mechanism is operated by the pressure switch opening, fixing that would allow the unloader to function normally. The safety valve would (should ) operate if the pressure reaches the safe limit, but it will not normally switch off the compressor, just bleed air.
That was the pressure switch that failed, not the unloader.
Hydrovanes run continuously they don't switch offThat was the pressure switch that failed, not the unloader.

As someone who knows nothing about screw compressors
I'd say that the unloader valve on your hydrovane is doing a different function to the one one a "normal" piston compressor with receiver.Hi,
May I politely please ask not to be contradicted when I post information in good faith knowing it to be true.
I stated quite clearly the unloader valve was on my Hydrovane compressor. When I realized there was a dangerous fault I posted here for for advice because I'm not an expert in anything and never will be or want to be;

This is the biggest technology forum on the web and I wasn't at all amused by being put down for asking a question whilst being a lowly home workshop owner; one member even stated I shouldn't be on the forum; at the time I couldn't find any information to help me so on this forum I created the information by stripping and repairing my Hydrovane.
I welcome being corrected if I make a mistake after all I'm not perfect.
I'd be obliged Seadog if you would kindly indulge me and explain here on the forum how a fixed speed Hydrovane without automatic stop start switch and no receiver controls output pressure; I'm always willing to learn.
Kind regards, Colin.
