The only difference being that acetylene is flammable and air isn't.
200l of air at 10bar is still going to have some considerable force behind it if it did rupture.
As has already been said, you can just hope for the best. Or you could take the end caps off, have a good look inside and if in any doubt, hydraulically test it.
I was only pointing out your analogy was way off, I mean you did say you'd seen a acetylene cylinder blow up. The other thing is air receivers usually split they don't go bang and land 400 metres away.
High pressure bottles tend to fail at the valve, and usually because of mechanical damage… like dropping it on the valve or pulling over with the collar off… (if you do this you are simply an idiot) which can be spectacular but the only real danger is the valve body or bottle gett chucked a bit.. probably not life threatening unless you are in the immediate path of either part.
Acetylene is a totally different ball game , but you know I’ve never seen or heard of anyone stupid enough to put it in a compressor.
