definitely that's why I never used it it builds up and rusts inside the pot and without an inspection cover u cant get it out

i have a norgren water trap here just after the compressor, its a dear item but it can catch about 90% or more of moisture alone.
i have a second auto drain moisture trap filter on the line to the plasma which dried the air up to about 97% best guess and since i did that i fitted a rather expensive little air filter that i got in a job lot which guarantees the air to be 100% dry, and in fairness to it, its as dray as it gets.
but in saying all that, the first norgren dose most of the work and would be ample for most jobs.
i didnt bother doing anything on the in side of the tank as im plenty happy with what i have, i have to drain the tank now and then but its piped with a valve so its just a matter of opening the handle as id walk by now and again.

copper vs steel pipe
Each one of the long runs is 24", so the air travels thru about 14' of copper before it gets back to the tank, which allows for a lot of heat dissipation even without fins. The line coming out of my compressor is 3/8", so I stepped it up to 1/2" to reduce the friction losses and provide a little more area for heat dissipation. It goes back to 3/8" just before the water separator, which is one of those cheap ones from HF and automatically drains when the pressure falls off. All the joints are soldered, with the excepting of the compression fittings at the separator, the compressor, and the tank. I used 3/16" rivets and 1/2" conduit clips to attach the whole mes to the side of the compressor belt guard. Here's a shot from above:
You can see that previously there was just a short drop to the tank. So how well does it work? I used an infrared thermometer (one of my favorite toys) to measure the temperature on the line coming out of the compressor after about 10 minutes of running and got 285 F. At the end of the line where it enters the tank, I got 98 F. That's enough of a drop in temperature to condense just about all of the water, which ended up in the separator. When I drained the tank, no water came out, where previously I would get a puddle

thats a good bit of work there, and a good plan if someone wants to go the cheap route for dry air.
id drain my 300 ltr tank here once every week or two, about a 1/2 ltr most times would come out.
i have a few mtrs of 1/2 galv pipe before the filter so it would cool it a bit but ive never pulled out the gun to check it, must do some day.
i have a norgren seporator on it then, it dose a damn fine job i must say, after that ive a few connectors and then further down i have another auto condensate filter on the line and fittings after, and Teed off that line is one of these for the plasma.
i bought none of it new but most of it was, came from clearance sales id buy a bit from.
