compressor for spray painting

Hi new here ive got a couple of bike projects and an old mini all of which need painting i have a tiger air master 24 litre but from what ive read its not up to spraying i have been offered a fiac e3hp 150s single phase at £150 is this a good quality unit i beleive its 10 bar and 15 cfm thanks

The fiac sounds like it should be the more industrial compressor but it depends on what spraygun you have or are thinking of getting if its then big enough

Don't know the type of compressor but if it's 10bar and 15cfm rated it will be man enough to spray paint with.

What CFM is your wee compressor, it might run a air fed mask. Possibly could couple them together but the wee compressor most likely is only rated for 8 bar so you'd need to limit the larger compressor to that as well.

I have a 7bar 12cfm and it runs a spray gun without any problems. Now my 12cfm is 12cfm displacement which equates to about 8cfm in air output, so if you have 10bat at 15cfm you got s**t loads.
I use a Sunstrom full face resperator with additional filters for thinners as well as particulate and that works fine, compressor dose it comfortably

I also have the air fed adapters for the Sunstrom masks but not in this case used them on the small compressor. just use the P1 prefilter, the partical filter and finally the brown band 'can't remember the designation' up at the mask. For most jobs this is fine. In closed spaces and larger jobs I would get the bigger electric 'if there is power there ' or the diesel and run the air through a carbon filter into the air feed adaptor for the sunstrom full face mask. Simples

I've got a few half masks and a full mask and have only used the filters so far. Work upgraded to an all in one filter so were going to throw all the old two part filters away so I grabbed them instead.

I think mine are:
Prefilter
Gas filter SR 217 A1 and SR 218 A2
Particle filter SR 510 P3 R

And work just issue these now: Combination filter SR 299-2 ABEK1 Hg P3 R

I've also had a face fit done so know the masks fit properly.

Not only does it not rely on compressor, you don't need expensive breathing air filters and gives you more freedom to move around which is especially important if you need to go outside to clean your gun etc.

What’s the electric Sundstrom you guys are talking about? Are you just talking about the battery powered electric filter pack? As that’s not a substitute for an air-fed mask if that’s what you are talking about.

Yes my two 14.5cfm compressors will run my spray gun and air fed mask no bother.

This is the spec tho this is single phase and regards the 24 litre i have is 7.5 cfm i beleive how much are we looking for an air fed mask ? A bodyshop i know sprays 2k paint and on small panels that are painted outside when the weather allows they use a gerson 8000 mask

It says 415v 3 phase if that's the spec of the compressor you're looking at.

Its identical but single phase ive seen it run on a 13amp plug

Ide probably go with a 1.4 mm gun as an all rounder maybe a 1.6_8 for filler primer

The nozzle size doesn't have any effect on the volume of air used when spraying, only the volume of paint that can be applied. The aircap that is fitted to the spraygun governs the amount of air required for the spraygun to work efficiently. Look for a spraygun that needs approx 10cfm. I think the devilbiss gpi can be purchased with a couple of different nozzles as mentioned in a recent post

I've never seen a 15 CFM free air delivery delivery compressor run on a 13a plug. It would need a special plug.
