have read back and i take it CEE are sockets in which case yes unless over 32A (100mA needed then for fire) or use by qualified persons FELV circuits are excluded

BS4343 sockets (to be superseded by new euro number) I have seen them referd to as CCE now that i remember

No, Not really. I only work on low voltage (<50v) nowadays, so I'm pretty much exempt from the regulations. When Rand's shut down, I moved from electrical to electronics, they get around any regulations by using those plug in power supplies.
The manufacturer of the power supply has the job of making sure it meets regs, the rest of the equipment is then exempt as it is low voltage.

unless its in a special location then some does. The regs even covers the towing lights on a caravan now!

What on earth were you doing, I can't imagine a situation that should expose you to such a risk?. Or is it that good practice goes out the window if you feel that there is no danger?
By the way, Robert\MK, the figure i quoted was what our textbooks said (squirrel cage induction motor), albeit a long time ago. The actual figure was not the point, just to show how motor speed and current draw are related.
