paper doesnt last very well on hard used compressors I always replace them with copper now and have never had one fail I make them for compressors that are running 24/7 and make them out of copper.

Well fair enough if they work for you, I am sure that if you get them to seal properly they won't ever fail. But for non commercial use I think it must be overkill.

Im going to leave it as is for now...Just an exercise too see how long it lasts. Its only a 10 minute job to change it afterall.

Longevity is one reason copper was used on motor cycles and also that they are reusable and well worth the time to make IMO
we found paper ones on pump compressors would always eventually blow even if we used the propriety gaskets because they are truck type compressors and on a truck they do have a rest from time to time, even if the engine is running all the time, but on a pump are compressing at max all the time, 24/7.

.......also helps cools the gasket and the head at that point where it has difficulty cooling that portion of the head and gasket.

And maybe we have discussed it, I have done it on several compressors that have had problems, even using new heads and gaskets a couple of times with complete warranty pumps, because of over work ie vastly extended duty cycles, and it works, so IMO---- do it.
Time is the proof and I have proved it works, with NO failures and the pumps are still running now, after 3-4 yrs. where the, sometimes, brand new pumps where failing after 3/6 mths . And the manuf would not replace another pump after sending 3.
even the head temps where down slightly so it must work.
also paper is an insulator, that is preventing the head to lose some heat through the block
and a more stable complete lower temp has to be a good thing.
I have seen the discolouration of the head at that point and after cleaning then modding and subsequent stripping there is none.
One major advantage is keeping reeds cooler.
