paper doesnt last very well on hard used compressors I always replace them with copper now and have never had one fail I make them for compressors that are running 24/7 and make them out of copper.
Longevity is one reason copper was used on motor cycles and also that they are reusable and well worth the time to make IMOWell fair enough if they work for you, I am sure that if you get them to seal properly they won't ever fail. But for non commercial use I think it must be overkill.
.......also helps cools the gasket and the head at that point where it has difficulty cooling that portion of the head and gasket.
that is your opinionWe've had this argument before - it just sucks the heat into the pump - don't do it.
