Hotchef, when it starts starting stopping, could you whip of the belt and then try turning the pump by hand? That would tell you if the issue is the pump seizing or what. Could you also post a video. Is it a standard 3hp 14 cfm compressor? If so then spare motors/pumps can be picked up cheap.

not sure on the CFM but i presume it is just a standard 3hp mate branded snapon so it will be something rebadged yes ill grab a video next time, not so esy to whip the belt off

The unloader valve wasn't working properly so I messed around with it and made it worse!
Well worth checking the non return valve isn't full of crap too.

I've fitted an extra fan to mine. The fan in the pulley blows most of the air across the crankcase so I've set the new one slightly higher to blow air across the head & barrel. It runs all the time the mains is on, not just when the compressor is running.

Extending the inlet away from the motor prevents warm air being drawn in.

I've got one of those big fans that sits on the floor to blow extra air across my compressors when blasting

I take it I need to remove this stubborn cap to see and clean the nrv any tips how to remove it it's not moving have not tried heat yet for fear of melting something

I guess I need a new switch with unloaded weird how it has been working fine for the last few years

Well it's working but turn it off before it's full and turn it back on again the auto drain kicks in andnit starts. Someone recommend me a new switch please

About the same as I bought. Just make sure the inlet for the tank is the right size.
Mine had a bigger tank inlet than the outlets.

New switch fitted but when the compressor gets up to pressure and it shuts off the air is leaking out of the unloaded valve so the nrv must be letting by. It can't be anything else can it.
