Pretty sure it was between 160-170 psi,so what would happen if i left it alone,would it still switch itself back on as soon as the pressure is at a certain point.As for the condition of the tank,it seems pretty solid enough,and certainly weighs a ton,it took 4 of us to drag it in lol.It has all been repainted by the previous owner,and the motor has been rewound apparently,but still could do with a model n.o on this.

I have had the same pressure switch on all my compressors. They seem
reliable, mine have only ever failed to turn back on, apart from the first one I
got, it needed a new diaphragm. I made the diaphragm out of a bit of inner tube, seems OK[I made it in 1978 and it's still working fine;-)]
The contacts go if you put to much current through them, like running a
5hp single phase motor eventually did, but you can rebuild them.
If it fails to turn back on a drop of oil is needed on the spindle that runs through the side plates, the one the bent flat metal bit is on.

u can run any size motor on compressors using the pressure switch to stop and start it .i run my motor through a 40 amp contactor so the pressure switch just runs the contactor coil and probably less that an amp

Anyone know where i can get replacement parts for the pump from for this,as it still takes ages to build pressure.Also whats the best way to get rid of carbon build up if thats the case?
