Thanks all had a look at a replacement pump prices seems a lot for what it is!
Forgot to add this is in an industrial setting mostly running rivet guns, nutsert install guns and die grinders etc. so not overly taxing but I’m looking at a new press which runs an air clutch and an air feeder for coil
so mightbe using a bit more air in the near future! I think a screw compressor about 5.5kw would do me nicely for a bit.
It’s already installed under the stairs of the mezzanine in a fairly enclosed room I can’t hear it in the machine shop which is next to it but in the main workshop it’s fairly loud as it’s open to the front of the stairs.
The sip screw compressors seems to be really good value price wise

I did quite a lot of homework a while ago on high quality industrial compressors and was directed to aiedirect.co.uk
The pumps and tanks they supply are extremely heavy compared to the ones you get from MM, ABAC,NUAIR,SEALEY, etc (which seem to be either chinese or italian versions of the same lightweight pumps) and are intended to last for decades, they run slow and are quieter.
For your budget you'd comfortably get one that will do you - they've also been really helpful when I've called them as they build to order so you can have it specc'd however you want.
If you then start googling the product codes (HW25, etc) you'll see they supply other firms too.
To be clear, I got the recommendation from people on this forum not first hand.
I was about to pull the trigger on a HW25i (5.5HP on an invertor), but space means I'm having to redesign the garage layout and shift to something smaller.

that website is a bit dated and clunky, but damn... those a really nice looking compressors!!

Sounds familiar, I think that may have been me - I have one, the HW16 with the three cylinder cast iron pump.
Their website is rubbish, but they are helpful over the 'phone - the compressor has been solid so far, no complaints.
Obviously not in the same class as a screw or hydrovane – but not in the same price bracket either.
