So Sealey said that the duty cycle is built into the specifications. E.g. if the compressor says that it can deliver 10 CFM free air delivery then it can do this continiously. That suggests that at 10 CFM the compressor should be stopping to take a break. Only it doesn't....

Blasting is one of the worst things for any compressor and the reality is if you need 10CFM to blast then there is no point in a having a 10CFM compressor unless it's something like a Hydrovane that is capable of running 24/7. When I got my blast cabinet I had a 15CFM compressor running from a 32A supply and petrol one running in tandem and they ran continuously. I bought a road compressor and it doesn't even break into a sweat but it is capable of 130CFM and has 1600cc diesel in it. I appreciate this is not an option for many people.

It's very easy to get into the cycle many people do with pressure washers, they buy a £60 Karcher with all the extras, then run it way more than it was ever designed to do. It breaks outside the warranty and they buy another and then it all starts again. I have a friend who went through that 3 times and I convinced to spend some proper money, he bought a baby Kranzle and has had no issues since.

It will only take a break (automatically) if you are using less air than the pump is supplying. Like if you run a hot water tap the header tank will fill continuously if the tap can pass water more quickly than the mains can supply it. Close the tap so that it passes less water than the mains can supply then the ball cock will eventually stop the water coming into the tank.

Compressor pumps get very hot, that's physics and you're stuck with it.

You shouldn't be having any problems with a nozzle that size. Try turning the pressure down. I find running real high pressure of no benefit. I never go above 4 bar on the regulator before the pressure pot.

^^ Exactly - especially on plastics, the extra heat can easily melt plastic.

i'd say compressors age diffrently i know of a few old ingersol rand type 30's still in daily use, one got retired for an upgrade after it's motor went pop ( it was 40 yrs old ) when the new compressor died the type 30 air end went on that, worked better than the new unit ever did.

a clarke 2x3 hp takes car of workshop most of the time for me if its heavy work road compressor comes out. i keep meaning to put a t30 on ether a 13hp enigne or a motor i have big sngel phase 6hp brook i keep looking at but may go 3ph and use it mobile as well with genset oneday

ifu have a large aeria to cover u can still blast at 90 psi . just hold the nozzle further away till u get the desired removal without damage and if its that critical use a suction gun
