I was offered the option of additional controls by cables & wires for hand brake , gear selection & clutch for a motability car.
Blek ! They looked like badly assembled Meccano toys to me .
What was interesting was that to have a standard car modified that would take my electric wheel chair would have been almost twice to cost of hiring my new motability KIA Sedona automatic fitted with a 90 kg electric hoist /lift & assisted tail gate opener /closer .
My car still has wind up windows never mind a computer screen
One of mine has manual windows . . . narrow enough the drive can wind the passenger side up or down without too much hassle from the drivers seat, or taking their eyes off the road.My car still has wind up windows never mind a computer screen
First journey completed successfully without crashing, I feared I may accidently change from radio 4 to radio 1 whilst blindly stabbing at the touch screen as I attempted to activate the heated seats, I was however successfull in that endeavour too
Is it possible to just switch it off?First journey completed successfully without crashing, I feared I may accidently change from radio 4 to radio 1 whilst blindly stabbing at the touch screen as I attempted to activate the heated seats, I was however successfull in that endeavour too
Is it possible to just switch it off?
Flippin' hill hold - I just want to roll back down my drive with the trailer on the back - take your foot off the brake . . . nothing happens . . . until finally it releases and you roll. Touch the brake . . .
I would want it off when driving, to minimise distraction. Looks like there are buttons on the steering wheel for the radio?Don't know, but why would you want to? I imagine it would turn the radio off as well. It is possible to access (as far as I can tell) the main functions without it
Is that what that is; Hill assist? Van does that. ****** me off no end.

You can switch off the hill hold, or you could on the Renault I rented a couple of years ago.Flippin' hill hold - I just want to roll back down my drive with the trailer on the back - take your foot off the brake . . . nothing happens . . . until finally it releases and you roll. Same car had some delay valve in the clutch hydraulics to help Americans handle a clutch . . . meant gear changing was a bit hit and miss on drive take up, as it seemed to be a variable delay . . . luckily a wood screw down the hose will pull it out . . .
Best thing I have ever seen for parking is mirrors. I was joining a ship in Japan. Busy place, everything crammed in. Driver picked me up at hotel In a normal car but it had oddly positioned like stick on rear view mirrors. Basically he could see both bumpers with them. And used the just about to touch parking method, unlike Spain where they used the extra half inch nudge method.Anyone tried the self parking system? Good grief what a faff - even dealer had no idea or trust in it. The car needed to ‘look’ for a space twice as long as the car, I was thinking what’s up with that space
