I am with @Ubique on this one - the instructions are very clear.

To be honest - was the old washer flat profile - as I would expect it to be! If so reuse the old washer.

It would be after 255Nm (+/-29Nm) applied for some time!

A photo of the profile of the washer should clear up if it is the correct one or not, the fact they supply one suggests to me it is deformable to some extent, to keep the load on the bearing constant. if it were just a flat washer, then surely you'd expect to re-use the previously fitted one.

One of the engineers at work seems to have a Milwaukee impact that goes that high. Just about every nut and bolt he tightens up has a stripped thread.

ring the main dealer , ask to speak to the head of the workshop , and ask ,,, most of the time they are ok about it ,,, when I ran a couple of workshops it was common enough ,,,

these days its look for a video on you tube ,,, or download the official parts list and see if it lists flat washer or what ever .

I actually rang a DAF dealer to find out the torque for a wheel bearing not long back.

“Hang on I’ll find out” says tech who picked phone up.

“I’ve asked the Forman and he says that 1” gun and send it”

I'll be using the chamfered washer that was already fitted. Not sure if it’s a wrong part or not with the instructions not updated, it’s a decent part by ADC/BluePrint

Not sure when I’ll be using it though as it’s fought me all the way culminating in the wheel bearing being seized in the knuckle. 50T press failed even with heat but did remove the outer and inner bearings but the retaining part and its bearing race is still firmly in the knuckle. Some success with hammering the retaining bolts but only a few millimetres in over 2 hours. Leaving it to soak overnight with penetrating fluid and try again tomorrow. May have to admit defeat just buy a new knuckle or even two as I still have the other side to do.

weld it ,,, run a bead round it let it cool and press it again ,,, ,,, heat expand s the metal , hub will constrain it , then when it cools back it will shrink , as the hub wasnt heated it will not suffer.

When I was at a LR dealer, we had a lot of low level rework jobs on RR Sport (L494) rear differentials - good time in it so I took all the ones I could get. There is a deformable sleeve between the bearing & the pinion gear that needs to be deformed until a specific measurement is met - no torque setting, just a DTI.
I made a jig to hold the casing and Rawlbolted it to the floor, I still needed 2 x 3/4" breaker bars and a good breakfast to get the right measurement. I must have done five or six a month for a year or so!

Yes vastly, I'm lucky paid £90 for a snap on 1/2" to 3/4 and £100 for a gedore 3/4 to 1" neither are used often now and neither I would sell.

last year i did six kingpins onsite axle nut was 1100nm doing up is easy enough......... yours must have been interesting

I've had a Stahlwille 3000Nm one for a long time, one of the techs at a Ford dealers borrowed it as he was struggling with a crank bolt - predictably sheared the bolt and had to spend 3+ hrs sorting it.... all he had to do was heat the bolt to 75 deg. c. and the plastic threadlock would have released....
