Converting Pressure Pot To Run With A Footswitch?

I have a Vixen Jetair industrial cabinet, it has a pressure put and the foot switch simply supplies air. The pressure pot does have a poppet valve but there is no control for the grit. The air provides pressure to the pot and the flow downstream of the pot for blasting

Oh, someone else, a while back suggested just having a ball valve on the side of the cabinet and reaching round to turn the flow on and off.
Quite a quick and easy fix but I felt using the pinch valve etc would be more convenient.Another way perhaps,but I think you can only use a dead mans handle on a syphon feed.
