if using corten but making the frame from mild all a bit pointless using corten surely ?

this works pretty well. Did it for a customer last year, sort of an “arty” fireplace.

This was cold rolled steel, with a homemade solution sprayed on and left 24hrs.
If you use mild steel, and want it to rust east, use cold rolled rather than hot rolled.
And this is Corten, think it's about 3 and a half years since I made that.

That’s to do with Lloyds / BV requirements for liability.
Something in that is some sort of loophole whereby the Chinese were making one shot ones which then got sold on over here as they couldn’t go back to sea again.

1 mm loss in 160 years.
I was told this when I bought my last lot by one of the Kloeckner companies.
It takes a bit more effort to bend,that’s the only different characteristics I’ve observed
