the switch on the front of the machine is lit and the fan on the rear works.switch is fooked.... short the switch contacts out on the machine and see if it fires up.
did you mean the spark gap.cross them?the switch on the front of the machine is lit and the fan on the rear works.
lready tried crossing the 2 pins doesn,t do anything at all.where the torch switch connects...
the 2 wires that come out of the back of the 2 pin plug socket go up into a white connector block if i cross the 2 solder points on the board under the white block air comes out of the gun, maybe a break in the wire, but air was coming out fine before but no arc, puzzling me now.lready tried crossing the 2 pins doesn,t do anything at all.
Yes, switch / switch leads are broken / faulty.the 2 wires that come out of the back of the 2 pin plug socket go up into a white connector block if i cross the 2 solder points on the board under the white block air comes out of the gun, maybe a break in the wire, but air was coming out fine before but no arc, puzzling me now.
will try that, thanksDisconnect from power and trace switch leads back to board - they're clipped on to the board with a small white connector IIRC. Take out and put meter leads into plug and test switch on continuity mode on meter. Could be the whole thing is knackered.
You've kind of already proven it faulty Gary. Crossing the solder joint was the same test but more brave than the one I suggestedwill try that, thanks
removed white connector and tested no signal when switch pressed, checked contacts on male connector on end of switch lead got signal, so fault from white connector to back of female connector on front of machine, wiggled wires while doing test and nothing, plugged white connector back in tested lead up to switch and it works wiggled wires continuous signal as if no break and gun works with the air but still no arc, weird ey.will try that, thanks
i agree but when the switch was working [as is now] and air coming from the gun when switch pressed why still no arc?Well I would think that:
a) The switch or switch wiring is faulty. Sounds like the wiring.
b) The HF contacts need dressing and setting.
The reason b) didn't work right was down to a) so fixing a) and then re-trying b) would be my next move. Very little cost or time needed to do it but you will need a bit of patience
cleaned and set contacts earlier.i agree but when the switch was working [as is now] and air coming from the gun when switch pressed why still no arc?
windy said the hose was kinked where it entered the machine my hose is not kinked at all and lots of air comes through the gun when switch is pressed,i even up the air pressure as someone said pressure might be to low causing gun not to arc, none of this makes any difference, i bet your all getting fed up of this now,i know i am and i don,t give up easily lol, i appreciate all the ideas.comments etc.
