Shouldn't have been an argument, ive never been oftec registered and just got the customer to call building control in to sign my work off

Do you know if local authority building control are obliged to offer that service? The suggestion I heard is that it's up to their discretion and some have decided not to do it, in which case you have to use an OFTEC approved contractor.

Oil was never my first choice, if a customer wanted it I told them to sort building control. Was mostly big refurb jobs so building control was usually involved anyway

No doubt you could make one explode if you tried hard enough, once a big hole is cut in the top there is little to no chance of that. They always go up in flames even if they are drained, the one below burned for about ten minutes just off the sludge in the bottom.

I’m sure you’ve done it many times, but you’ll have to trust me on this one. It really isn’t difficult to make it explode and it doesn’t need much fuel / flammables

These things can be cut open, with some regularity too, but a great deal of preperation is required, or else it can end very badly

I’ve lost track of the lies and promises from Avanti. I’m currently waiting for a call back they promised on Monday...

However, I did have a Flogas bulk LPG tank buried in my front garden yesterday, so no more refilling 47 kg bottles every two weeks whenever it’s cold outside.
I had all intentions of planting a nice tree there last year, but ‘luckily’ co*id messed that plan up.

Blow me down with a feather, I’ve just this minute received two separate emails, confirming the tank will be removed, on the 14th of may, and again on 15th. Only one tank here though.

It needs a long crane, which the Avanti gas tank inspection guy said they have, and he then measured that it will reach, when he turned up out of the blue to do the annual inspection in February.

I told him I‘d planned to chop it up, and he said I can’t, it’s their tank, they will have to remove it.

Nearly a dozen phone calls later and it appears they are going to do just that.

Just as I’d drawn up some plans for big raw steel planters too......

Just watch they don't put out their stabilising legs out right on top of your new Flogas tank in the front garden, they're less than likely to be careful placing them and I'd doubt they have steel plates with them....

I shall be watching like a hawk. Any excuse to fcuk them off and get back on track with my raw steel planters project.

First they need to handball the tank 10 feet over the gravel in my yard, and the railway sleeper border that holds it there, to get in the cranes lift radius. So they better send more than a driver and a banksman.

I‘m a certified offshore crane operator and slinger, but I shall plead ignorance when it comes to them working out how to do the lift.

So will it be a complicated or a complex lift. Have the sent you a lift plan for approval as its your site. Whats the ground loading suitability where thr crane feet are going to go.

No, single crane jobbie, but a bit awkward, with no line of sight for the crane driver.
Ground loading is crap, as I’m not sure of the exact reach of the crane and it’s relation to its wheel or rams. I personally don’t think a straight lift is possible, without hand pulling the load to clear buildings, based on the guesstimated 19metre reach the guy told me when he measured up.

Of course, we’ve all done impossible lifts before..... but not when my garage and house is in the way.
