The winch trucks are really expensive, this one was £2500 plus the Vat and I'm so chuffed with what you get for your money.

That seems like a bargain, as you say the winch ones are £6K and upwards. The reality is you could fit a top quality winch front and rear and still be quids in.

I think if the vehicle is not being used commercially and is 25 years old then the tachograph doesn't need to be calibrated/ checked. Mot inspector showed me some information regarding that a few years ago at an MOT but as mine is still used commercially still needs to have tacho calibrated and checked.

It only got delivered to me this morning and I'm really pleased with it.
Tested everything including the Diff Lock and Hi/Low Ratio and it all works a treat.
Only thing that seems to be duff is the horn and the odometer.
I dipped the oil and at first I thought there was none on the stick but then I realised it was still clear which is unheard of in my experience of diesels.
Driving it is dead easy apart from the air brakes, touch the pedal and it's like someone has thrown out a 10 ton ground anchor!
The canopies are a bit scruffy so those will get replaced. It even has a sun roof... a removable hatch in the cab roof that the machine gunner was supposed to use, unfortunately I can't seem to find the machine gun, it must be there somewhere.
It even has the fire extinguishers in their boxes.
The plan is to register it as an agricultural tractor and use it as it is and at a later date fit a camping module on to it and register it as a camper.

In cold weather make sure you use the ethanol in the brake air inlet reservoir and always check the air is out the tank to stop condensation in cold weather . some trucks have a simple in line across the line lever valve others had automatic drains that tended to stick if they are not being used regularly .


Put up a picture of the steering wheel and the levers coming off the steering column ... there may be something of interest on it for you to consider .

Been out for a play today in Daffy...

Had to negotiate a very icy/snow packed 27% gradient hill up and down which was a bit butt clenching especially when I decided that low ratio 1st gear was too slow going down so changed into 2nd!!!
But she got 2 adults, 2 excited teenagers and 2 even more excited dogs to the best sledging hill which we had to ourselves.
Best fun I've had in ages.

If you ever get the chance to get a proper EX MOD set of chains for the truck grab them . I've done some real long hairy ascents & descents of around 35 % on hard packed snow ( minus 20 oC or so with them on . They can also be helpful on bad wet ground .
