As I remeber from the old days the idea was to do the brazing from the inside. Where the two panels are folded to create the flanges that join together and meet, creates a lovely valley to fill with brass. As long as the panel is really clean the brass flows in beautifully meaning that most of the outside seam can be removed.
I de seamed a mini years ago, Pretty much exactly how to do it!
I used 1" welds about 4" apart, Brazed in between, then ground off the seam from the outside, touching up with braze as needed. some areas have to be done from the outside due to access, these were welded. all done with O&A, BOC Sapphire torch with extended nozzles. I really mis gas welding
I did have all the seams grit blasted first - they MUST be spotless, or it just wont work.
The car is still on the road, no signs of cracking!
